Labdanum, Clear(Cistus ladanifer) Absolute

Labdanum, Clear(Cistus ladanifer) Absolute
Labdanum, Clear Absolute in fractionated coconut oil is a golden plastic mass(not pourable at room temperature hence must be heated before blending with alcohol or carrier oils) with a elegant, suave, rich, sweet balsamic/resinous bouquet with a ambery/herbaceous/spicy undertone of great tenacity. As with all the absolutes in fractionated coconut oil it is totally soluble 190 proof undenatured alcohol. It is important to remember that this is considered a very high proportion of absolute to base oil. Normally 3% of a the pure absolute is added to a perfume compostion to impart its fixative qualities along with subtle dimensions of its olfactory bouquet.

*Many of the resins(but not all) which are extracted for absolutes are, at room temperature, solid plastic masses, sometimes even crystaline masses and are very difficult to use in their pure form. For this reason we offer them in dilution. We also offer them in dilution because in our small business we do not have time to heat the absolutes each time customers place small orders for them. In that connection we also feel that it is not a wise idea to heat them over again and again as it sometimes takes up to twenty minutes to get them into a liquid form.

In natural perfumery, labdanum absolute has wide application as a fine fixative and for its own distinctive bouquet. It is used in Oriental bouquets, incense perfumes, geographical and historical essences, floral notes(hyacinth, rose, champa, lilac, ylang, hawthorn, narcissus, violet) amber bases, fougere, chypre, forest notes, russian leather notes
"Labdanum absolute from concrete is used extensively in perfumery, partly as an excellent fixative, partly to introduced a rich, sweet, suave sweetness and natural undertone, which blends well with citrus colognes, lavender colognes, all kinds of Oriental bases, chypres, amber bases, pine and forest blends..."Steffen Arctander
